OUR GOAL IS TO INCREASE POWER IN OUR COMMUNITIES. EFFECTIVE VOTING ALLOWS A COMMUNITY TO DETERMINE ITS OWN DESTINY.

- Racial Justice
- Voting Access
BVMF builds political power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. Since 2017, its first year, BVMF has grown from working with 32 community-based organizations and scores of individual activists in AL and GA to working with more than 130 organizations in 11 states, providing mini-grants, strategic training and assistance in everything from data management to communications, and opportunities for networking and coordination.
In 2022, BVMF reached millions of voters via text, door-to-door canvassing, and its signature Blackest Bus in American bus tours, while also distributing “over $9 million directly into the hands of local partners to provide on the ground resources to support GOTV, voter protection and education efforts to help minimize the impact of voter suppression across the country.”
While Election Day is over, Black Voters Matter Fund continue their GOTV operations in Georgia for the Senate runoff election on December 6. For the last Senate runoff election in Georgia in 2021, BVMF achieved runoff turnout at 90% of the general election turnout.
Unlike 2021, they are facing more extreme challenges because there are only four weeks to run GOTV campaigns, with Thanksgiving in the middle of this period, and only one week of early voting. Georgia election officials are also making it harder to vote during this period because they will not allow voting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Despite these obstacles, BVMF plans to implement a sophisticated c3 and c4 GOTV campaign that includes digital and in-person strategies to ensure Georgians turn out on December 6.
Their efforts will ultimately ensure that Democrats have 51 votes in the Senate, and secure an overall better position for 2024. Donate here to help pave a better future for our country!
