Building Long-term Power: Asian Pacific Islander Politicial Alliance (API PA)
Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance (API PA) built long-term power for APIs in Pennsylvania by coordinating political, electoral, and legislative work.
API PA held elected officials accountable, engaged in culturally competent and linguistically accessible direct voter contact, and built solidarity with other communities of color across the state. This included supporting movement work with:
(1) Save Philadelphia’s Chinatown, a community fighting to push back against building the 76ers new stadium in the middle of historic Chinatown, and
(2) Justice for Christian Hall to advocate for the deployment of mobile mental health units to respond in coordination with or, in some cases, in lieu of police enforcement.
